Waste no more
In Lam Dong province - Vietnam’s silkworm rearing powerhouse, over 6500 hectares of mulberry plants are grown to feed silkworms. They need pruning annually. As a result, an estimated 117,000 tonnes of pruned mulberry branches are discarded and burnt every year, causing air pollution and CO2 emissions.
Adopting a circular design approach, we extract waste bark fibers without using chemicals to create natural, biodegradable fiber-based products and services. We developed fiber-based products such as paper, bags and masks and also offered hands-on workshops. Our paper-making activity is especially enjoyed by kids and parents.
